2012
BIG LEBOWSKI
CELEBRATION

Our 4th Annual Big Lebowski Celebration will be on Sunday June 17th

Written by the Academy Award winning Coen brothers, it's a movie whose cleverness forms a comradeship amongst its viewers. The movie can be enjoyed on so many levels. A film student can write a dissertation on how the story line is an analogy for the first Gulf War while a relaxed observer can just be amazed at the stunning visuals and the incredible chain of events that bring these outrageous characters into contact with each other. The fantastic dialogue will keep anyone laughing.

The "Rotten Tomatoes" synopsis goes something like this: " The plot of this Raymond Chandler-esque comedy crime caper from the Coen Brothers (Joel Coen and Ethan Coen) pivots around a case of mistaken identity complicated by extortion, double-crosses, deception, embezzlement, sex, pot, and gallons of White Russians (made with fresh cream, please). In 1991, unemployed '60s refugee Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski (Jeff Bridges) grooves into his laid-back Los Angeles lifestyle.

One of the laziest men in LA, he enjoys hanging with his bowling buddies, pompous security-store owner Walter Sobchak (John Goodman) and mild-mannered ex-surfer Donny (Steve Buscemi). However, the Dude's life takes an alternate route the afternoon two goons break into his threadbare Venice, California, bungalow, rough him up, and urinate on his living room rug. Why? Because Jackie Treehorn (Ben Gazzara) is owed money by the wife of a certain Jeff Lebowski. However, the goons grabbed the wrong Jeff Lebowski. "

No matter how many times the movie is watched you'll pick up something new and hilarious. At least I always do, but it might be from an over consumption of white russians. So get relaxed, grab a caucasion or an oat soda and sit back and enjoy the fun that is our Lowcountry Lebowski Celebration.
There will be trivia and a costume contest with prizes.
Screening of the film at 9p.
